Today, we will arrive at La Base Lamay and learn about Regerative Tourism initiative in the communities of Lamay. We will head to one of Lamay's highland communities, where we will be welcomed by our local hosts who will introduce us to the world of natural resources and traditional Andean textiles.
We will find llamas, alpacas and sheep, and experience the shearing of the wool that we will later use for textile production. We will learn about wild plants used as food, medicine, and natural dyes; washing the fibers with roots, spinning, warping and dyeing the wool with plants and natural mordants.
We will recognize the complexity of traditional weaving, its iconography and relationship with the Andean cosmovision and daily life, especially for women. We will enjoy a nutritious local lunch before returning to Lamay and heading back to the hotel or our next destination.
